General Functions and Scope: The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of our company. You will work closely with the Controller, Director of Finance, and other members of the Senior Management team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient financial processes. Supervisory Responsibilities: The Assistant Controller will supervise and directly manage the Wilmington accounting staff (Sr. Staff Accountant, AP admins, Credit & Collections Specialist, Project Accountant, Project Administrator).

Essential Functional Areas of Responsibilities:
- Assist with various internal and external reporting requirements, including debt covenants, property renditions, etc.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of project budgets and managerial forecasts.
- Direct and oversee the monthly/quarterly/annual close process with an emphasis on accuracy and
timeliness. - Distribute and review monthly budget vs actual reports on ongoing projects in conjunction with project
accountant. - Distribution of monthly excel-based accounting reports with KPI’s to Senior Management
- Emphasize process improvement, efficiency, and accountability.
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Generate Work in Process (WIP) report for review with Corporate Controller and Senior Management.
- Interact with billing team to ensure proper recognition of revenue.
- Manage and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, job cost, billing, payables,
payroll, and financial reporting. - Oversee fixed asset schedule, create amortization schedule for financed assets. Report and reconcile
balances on debt subaccounts as part of quarterly close process. - Prepare and review records and schedules necessary for annual review financial review with outside CPA
firm. - Produce reports for business taxes such as unsecured property and business licensee gross receipts tax.
- Record month-end accruals as necessary with SR Staff Accountant.
- Review entries for asset liabilities, revenue, and expenses monthly with Operations Management staff
- Supervise corporate compliance team.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Assistant Controller will supervise and directly manage the Wilmington accounting staff (Sr. Staff Accountant, AP admins, Credit & Collections Specialist, Project Accountant, Project Administrator).
Minimum Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting/finance
- Minimum 5 years construction accounting experience
- Prior managerial experience
- Subject matter expert in accounting fundamentals in accordance with GAAP
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, budgets, and administration
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent attention to detail, and verbal/written skills
- Experience with prevailing wages and certified payroll
- State apportionment experience
- Time Management/Ability to work without supervision
- Ability to manage a team of multiple direct reports
