Recent Project: Waste Consolidation Unit

The AIS Northern California Team is in the process of constructing a waste consolidation unit (WCU) on ±50 acres in Sacramento County. The WCU is a Class II landfill with a capacity of 1,000,000 cubic yards.

AIS has completed construction of a Sub-Cell (~8.5 acres) of the WCU. This process involved the excavation and grading of 108,720 cubic yards over 17 acres, excavation, screening and crushing of 60,000 tons of river cobble to produce aggregate for the landfill gas and leachate collection layers, installation of the HDPE landfill gas and leachate collection piping, installation of approximately 380,000 square feet of the geosynthetic liner system described above, and construction of concrete storm water drainage channels. The waste placement and closure of Sub-Cell 1A is expected to be completed in 2026.
